Las Vegas Vs Reno

While this may be true in pot-limit poker (where you'll often see four or five very good Pokerstars net players waiting to get just a single bad player's money), in limit poker it seems to me that the expert's main edge comes from playing against the average, predictable opponent, and playing at a table full of them will therefore be very profitable in the long run. However, if you're an average player yourself, then playing in a game with a couple of bad players and some very good players may actually be a good move, since everybody at the table is waiting to get the bad player's money, rather than yours.
In this Pokerstars article, I'll take a look at a few of those statements, more specifically those who are considered to be "true" by a large group of players, opinions that are conceived common wisdom, and statements made by poker authors which in my opinion are not completely accurate or may in some cases even be flat out wrong. Today I'll deal with the following statements: "If in limit hold'em you've got AK in the hole, you should raise", "In Omaha, only play after the flop if you have the nuts or a draw to it" and "Whenever a rock is in a hand, don't give any action: fold all marginal hands."
Then again, if it turns out that we, the Pokerstars net players, are expected to support the dealer's income, then the house should take a firm stand against anybody who declines to leave a decent tip. However, in my opinion, they can't have it both ways. Casinos always mention they have to charge people for playing because they provide for the game, including: a space, chips, cards and the dealers. If the players are supposed to support the dealers, then they're paying twice for the same thing, right?
In the Austrian cardrooms the rake is a little bit higher than in the U.S. and if on top of that Pokerstars net players are expected to also tip extremely well, the games might become very hard to beat or, as had been the case for some time, most dealers would figure to make more money on average than even the best players. Therefore, depending on the dealer, most of the time I tip half a dollar for a small pot, one dollar for an average pot and two dollars for a big pot (10-20-30 Austrian schillings), which is less than average but still a lot of money, considering that I play poker six days a week.
It's pretty hard to beat those Pokerstars net games, or rather they don't offer enough expectation to the serious player who makes his living out of the game. A few pot-limit games are also being offered, however. No jackpot drops are taken here. The rake is pretty easy to overcome and the players are rather inexperienced and thus play very loose, although the ante pressure is low.
In deciding whether or not to defend, it is important who you are up against. Is your opponent a habitual stealer or a very tight player? Is the raiser in early position or near the button? And how does this specific player view you? When I started playing poker for a living, I played very aggressive but also extremely tight, which induced some players to take a shot at my blind practically every time. Since it is clear that a free ride in the blind can be very profitable in the long run, you don't want your blind to be raised on every occasion.
If you have a big stack and show the other Pokerstars players that you're willing to put all your money in the middle, the hand might end right there. In potlimit, you have to bet or raise at some point in the hand, unless you're setting someone up to bluff off all his money. However, when making a call, always consider implied odds (how much extra money will I make if I hit my hand?) and bluffing rights (can I bluff my Pokerstars net opponent out of the pot if a scare card comes up?).
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Breadstick acknowledged that the virtual round-the-clock playing had caused some disruption in his personal life. Mr. Breadstick won the title by amassing the most points after playing in 300 poker tournaments at the casino, the minimum number required to be eligible for the final rankings.
