Sit & Go Pocker Games

February 21, 2006

To get the best result from sit & go pocker games and make it a true test, you have to set the difficulty level at its highest setting. The AI does become a monkey if you have it any lower! In tournaments, when there is a short stack that makes a raise, many times the computerized pocker players will lay down their hands, rather than making the obvious pot odds move to eliminate a competitor. I would have also liked to have seen T. J.'s tips extended to the other pocker games, but it is only a two CD set after all! These downsides are a little nit-picky, however, because the play of the game is otherwise excellent.

Another nice touch with these tips is that they will vary relative to your partypocker position. It is almost unheard of that a computer simulation takes that into consideration, but "World Class Pocker" does an excellent job of this. Cloutier's tips will also vary, dependent on your position, so it really gives a great look into the mind of a top professional pocker player when playing the game. It will be followed by tournaments of Omaha High-Low, 7-Card Stud, 7-Card Stud High-Low, and Limit and No-Limit Hold 'Em. Entry into each of these is $565. In the second week, the action gets bigger, with a $2,150 No-Limit Hold 'Em PacificPocker event setting the stage for the four-day championship No-Limit event which costs $5,200 to enter.

In addition to the main free pocker room, the casino's Sunset Ballroom will be transformed into a poker room for two weeks. Both Milford and Stratford police have been looking into the matter ever since the Milford Mirror and its sister paper, the Stratford Star, disclosed in January that Texas Hold 'Em Pocker games were being played at some restaurants in those communities, with cash pots for winners.

Spokesmen for both police departments said at the time that they were unsure if the games were illegal, and that they would check with partypocker the state's attorney in their respective judicial districts. Riggione noted that when people did play sit & go pocker games at Knickerbocker's, the restaurant did not run the games. Instead, an individual hosted them. He also said he decided to stop the games because "there was too much controversy. No one could ever determine if they were allowed, or if they were illegal. That was never clarified."

In just under three years, the World Pocker Tour has become one of the most lucrative ventures in sports for its players. Over the weekend, the WPT crossed the $100 million mark in prize money with the awarding of the $7 million plus prize pool on the latest pocker tournament stop of the WPT. Michael Gracz captured first prize, earning $1.5 million, and entered the record books as the WPT's "$100 Million Man." When considering that many World Pocker Tour events pay as deep as 40th or 50th place means that for the first time many professional pocker players are earning their mortgage money on the tour and successful amateurs are enjoying nice bonuses for their bank accounts.
